Sometimes it's nice to be alone...

Away from society, away from the chaos, especially with the one you love. In these crazy times it is nice to be able to have some distance from the craziness.

We are currently hiding out in the Las Perlas Islands, about 40 miles away from Panama City. The Las Perlas archipelago consists of numerous islands, the count can vary from 39 to 250 depending on which source you use. Most of the islands are uninhabited and provide a wonderful escape. We have been spending time around one island (Chapera) that seems to provide the sweet spot that we seek, no people, good swimming, good snorkeling, and internet.

I have to admit we tossed back and forth as to whether or not we wanted internet for the election, we finally, begrudgingly, settled on yes, (hard to turn away from a potential train wreck). This island has been a welcome respite as we read the news of Covid-19 in the US, and of taxis strikes in Panama City causing massive headaches and traffic issues for everyone. We have been out here for three weeks now. Three weeks with no Covid masks, no shoes and clothing optional swims. We are out here testing our instruments after the lightning strike, and we are making a small list of things that still need adjusting, nothing major, but important enough to get fixed before we traipse across any oceans.

Taking the time to enjoy life and each other, and both of us have been taking the time to make art. I have been using watercolors and Bob has been using colored pencils.

Not very many giraffes here in Las Perlas (none), but I did this picture as part of an online class.

Soon we will be returning to society. Back to people and the need for masks, shoes, clothes and money. We have enjoyed our time here, and will use our return to the city as a springboard to our next adventure.
