Go go go, and wait

We are on the move, or we were! We headed south out if Puerto Vallarta, past Acapulco to Huatulco,  at the bottom of the crook of Mexico, and here we wait.

Leaving Puerto Vallarta our first cape was Cabo Corrientes. Waves were a bit choppy as we rounded the point but soon settled down and became calmer, leading to smooth and quiet downwind sailing. A beautiful sunset, complete with a green flash, and the best part of all was listening to the whale songs through the hull!

Night passages can be pretty special. On this passage we saw amazing stars. The Big Dipper and the North Star are sinking down toward the horizon as we head further south. The Milky Way was a bright arch high in the sky, tipping over as the night progressed.

The arrow shows the stadium seating where people can watch the cliff divers of Acapulco

A quick stop in Acapulco for fuel, groceries and some sleep and we are off again. The Sea is calm and a beautiful sapphire blue. We didn't spot any more whales, but we have been escorted by a very large pod of spotted dolphins and were treated to some wonderful displays of leaping. A few turtles on the surface, lazily diving if we get too close, and a few Mobula Rays jumping out of the water.

One of our favorite things to do is to stop the boat and jump in for a swim. A few laps around the boat in the beautiful clear water are wonderfully refreshing.

We are now on the edge of the Gulf of Tehuantepec. This area is known for the strong winds that blow across from the Caribbean.

This is Saturday's wind map, black = bad, white = scary bad! Being the fair weather sailors that we are, we wait until the winds die down.

We love to hear your comments.
